LAKE ADVENTURES FOR ALL SEASONS
How is it possible that here, where sometimes there's almost no water, lies the largest intermittent lake in Europe? And how can it be that there are sometimes 17 intermittent lakes around Pivka, and other times only one? Let’s explore this fascinating water phenomenon!
In late spring or autumn, when Lake Cerknica is at its largest, the best way to explore it is by paddling! We rent a canoe and embark on an exciting family water safari. Before heading out onto this unusual lake, which sometimes disappears, we learn more about it through the interactive exhibition at the Lake Cerknica Visitor Center.
We set off on an adventurous journey around Lake Cerknica in all seasons with a special backpack and the Jezerska Adventure booklet, both available at the Lake Cerknica Visitor Center. With these, we tackle various challenges and solve intriguing puzzles on the Drvošec Trail. We reward ourselves with fun stickers, and at the end, a prize awaits!
The experiences of the unique life of karst waters also await us at the Pivka Intermittent Lakes Ecomuseum. Through interactive exhibitions, we learn a lot in a fun way. Families can also embark on the Lake Hunt – a self-guided walk from the museum to Petelinje Lake with the help of a rhyming map full of clues.
