Before visiting the Postojna Cave, first stop at the Karst Museum in Postojna, where you will truly get to know and understand the Karst and the Karst phenomena. The visit to Postojna Cave will thus become a really special and educational experience, which will remain in your memory forever. The Karst Museum also exhibits a real treasure from the nearby Predjama Castle. The picturesque and mighty castle proudly sits embedded high into the cliff above the mysterious underground tunnels of the Cave under the Castle. Here, the Predjama treasure cache lay hidden for many centuries and tells the story of the social life spent at candle-lit dinners and tables full of food and drink. During the siege, the castle was the refuge of its most famous owner – Erazem of Predjama. The legend of the brave outlaw knight Erazem, who remained undefeated until he was betrayed by one of his servants, still lives on in local folklore. The highlights of the Green Karst will be finished in the local “The Old Lady” Museum, offering a beautiful view of the Predjama Castle. Your lively day will finish with a dinner at a local restaurant or farm stay, where modern meets tradition.
