FOLLOWING THE TRACKS OF BEARS AND OTHER LARGE PREDATORS
How big are bears really, and where do they live? What does a bear’s den look like? Do wolves and lynxes really live close to bears? The Green Karst offers answers to countless curious questions from children. Discover them through safe and engaging family experiences in places where we carefully protect the habitats of large predators, venturing into their territories with the guidance of experienced guides.
We get to know bears and other forest inhabitants in a friendly way at the DINA Pivka Large Carnivore Centre. Here, we also learn what to do if we ever encounter a wild animal in nature. Special goggles let us see the world through the eyes of bears, wolves, or lynxes. The magical forest and 10 interactive stations captivate children and adults with fun learning experiences.
When we feel the urge to visit animals in nature, we head out on the circular Mašun Forest Educational Trail. On this trail, we even encounter a real bear den! No worries: the bear is not at home, but he left the door of his shelter open for us.
The silhouette of a bear and many new insights into other local inhabitants also await us on the Drvošec Trail, which runs around Lake Cerknica. We also learn about the life of predators on the nature trail Following Animal Tracks near Snežnik Castle.
